We have exciting news to share: the Brookline Select Board voted unanimously to place the proposed rezoning and related Articles for the Chestnut Hill Commercial Area – including the City Realty parcels at 1280–1330 Boylston Street – on the Warrant for the May 2026 Special Town Meeting, clearing the way for the community to have its say on the future of this site.

The vote is a major milestone in a process that has involved more than two years of community engagement, including 19 Community Advisory Group meetings, 10 Economic Development Advisory Board meetings, multiple Housing Advisory Board meetings and Select Board meetings.

Town Meeting will begin on May 26, 2026 at Brookline High School. The rezoning articles will be considered, and passage will require a two-thirds vote. We are grateful for the broad, sustained community support that has brought us here.

We believe Meridian Chestnut Hill represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to transform a vacant office park into a vibrant, welcoming destination – bringing new homes, hospitality, public space, shops and approximately $6 million per year in new annual tax revenue to Brookline.

The next few weeks will be critical. We encourage everyone who cares about Brookline’s future to stay engaged and make their voices heard. Please contact your Town Meeting members and let them know how important this project is for a vibrant, livable Brookline.
