We, the undersigned residents, business owners and community members of Brookline and the greater Boston area, express our support for the proposed redevelopment of 1280-1330 Boylston Street — the transformation of a long-vacant office park into a vibrant, mixed-use community destination called Meridian Chestnut Hill.
We support this project because it will:
-
Create much-needed housing — adding hundreds of new residential units, including condos and multifamily homes, with affordable units on-site and a $10.9 million contribution to Brookline's Housing Trust Fund.
-
Generate significant tax revenue — converting a tax-limited vacant property into a major contributor to Brookline's tax base, supporting public schools, services and infrastructure.
-
Turn an underutilized office park into a community asset — replacing empty office buildings with shops, open plazas and pedestrian-friendly design.
-
Bring economic vitality to the neighborhood — adding a hotel, retail, dining and medical office space that will create jobs and serve as a true gathering place.
-
Reflect years of community engagement — shaped by 19 Community Advisory Group meetings, 10 Economic Development Advisory sessions, 6 Select Board updates and 3 Housing Advisory Board meetings.
We urge the Brookline Town Meeting to vote in favor of the three Warrant Articles necessary to bring this project to life, and we look forward to seeing this long-idle site become a place where people can live, work, shop, and gather for generations to come.
